ADVANTAGES
  ALL THE GOOD STUFF

moladi has been designed and manufactured to
address the six key challenges that determine the
successful implementation of low cost housing
projects in developing countries. These challenges
would be the lack of sufficient funds, the shortage of
skilled labourers, a lack of resources, work flow
  control, time constraints and wastage.
The unique moladi monolithic cast house system
has succeeded in producing durable structures of
quality in the shortest possible time. By combining the
  moladi reusable, patented, recyclable lightweight
plastic injection moulded formwork system, with a
South African Bureau of Standards approved
  lightweight aerated mortar, Agrément Certificate
94/231, a full scale mould of the designed house is
configured with all the services, both plumbing and
electrical, are cast in situ as a monolithic reinforced
  walling system.
Chasing, beam filling, plastering and wastage are
eliminated, producing a fast track, cost effective,
  transferable construction technology. Traditional bricks
or blocks are moulded in a small mould and then
laboriously stacked by an artisan and sandwiched with
mortar to form a wall structure. The electrical and
water pipes are positioned by grinding and chasing
into the brickwall. The wall is then plastered to cover
the pipes and services, as well as the brickwork, to
create a level and smooth surface.
moladi is also unique in that it can be easily
transported to virtually any part of the world, including
remote and rural areas and informal settlements and
the construction of a moladi structure does not
require heavy machinery, or even electricity. The
building materials required for the moladi
methodology are materials which are readily available,
easily accessible and sourced locally. By utilizing
indigenous materials the benefits of the technology
are spread to local communities. moladi:
